Bürgstadt – “Sea of Colours” and “Abyss of the Main River”
“Abyss of the Main River” is quite the nick name for our steep quarries opposite of Bürgstadt. The red sand stone was the foundation of Bürgstadt’s wine and brought fame and wealth which enabled e.g. creations like the “Sea of Colours” inside our Martin’s Chapel. This chapel is flooded with breath-taking paintings. The hike begins in Miltenberg’s North, right behind the Main Bridge and mostly rolls along the river.
